Java: A New Tool for Web Programming

Demonstration Leader: Tom Burke
Affiliation: University of Hawai'i at Manoa

The Java programming language adds interactivity and other features to Web presentations. Java "applets" (mini-applications) are quick to download and run without change on all common computers. While Java is complex, a tool called JavaScript allows designers of modest experience to combine libraries of applets into Web applications with power similar to traditional computer programs.
