Workshop (401)

The Virtual Photo Album: Creating and Sharing Exercises with Photographs

Workshop Leaders: Louis Janus & Nancy Stenson
Affiliation: University of Minnesota

The Virtual Photo Album is a plan for a collection of photographs and diagrams that classroom teachers can easily design curricular material around. The pictures would be available on the net, and we will encourage teachers to share any class exercises they have developed on the net also. We will show examples of photographs from our Virtual Photo Album used for Hindi classes, and the ways these photographs can be used in exercises such as listening comprehension, fill in the blank, and true/false. After viewing ready-made exercises, we will discuss issues involved in expanding the Photo Album for wider access and brainstorm ideas on what participants would like to see added, and on how potential problems might be overcome.
