To show the advantages of using authentic video-based materials in an interactive computer environment, this paper will discuss the pedagogical principles for using Libra authoring software. I will show how materials can be created for a number of curricular needs and I will address the issue of how this technology aids both classroom instruction and individualized instruction. I will compare this approach to more traditional models involving teacher-centered instruction with authentic or semi-authentic materials.
