Rooms in East-West Center Residence Halls, conveniently located just footsteps from the Imin International Conference Center on the UH Manoa campus, are available for conference participants on a limited basis as follows:

HALE MANOA: Double dorm rooms (2 single beds) with shared bathrooms are available for $35 per night. Linen and bedding are provided; however, guests must either bring towels or purchase a towel packet (bath towel, wash cloth, and small bar of soap for $4) at the Front Desk. Bathrooms are shared. Kitchen facilities are limited and used heavily by the regular long-term residents. There are a number of nearby cafeterias and restaurants where guests can go for meals.

LINCOLN HALL: studios (without kitchens) with private bathrooms and cable TV are available for $49 per night.

Air conditioning is NOT available in any of the East-West Center residence halls.

If you are interested in staying in an East-West Center residence hall, you will need to make your reservations directly through the East-West Center Housing Office.

IMPORTANT NOTE: When making reservations, be sure that you inform the East-West Center Housing Office that you are a "Cultural Diversity and Language Education conference participant." You will need to give your credit card (Mastercard or Visa) to hold your reservation. Available rooms are limited, so please make your reservations early (before July 24, 2004).

For those of you interested in staying in Waikiki (and enjoying some vacation time while here in Hawai‘i), the Queen Kapiolani Hotel offers convenient, economical lodging with great views and a great location. The hotel is located near majestic Diamond Head, and famous Waikiki Beach, Kapiolani Park, the Honolulu Zoo, the Waikiki Aquarium, shopping, dining, and great entertainment are all within walking distance. The UH Manoa campus is 3 miles from Waikiki and can be easily reached by car or The Bus (Route #4) from Waikiki. See the Getting There section for more details.

Attached is a handy reservation form provided by the hotel with our specially negotiated rates. We recommend getting either a Superior ($63/night) or Ocean View ($72/night) Room. (The Moderate rooms at $58/night are smaller in size). If you wish to arrange for a rental car with your hotel room, it will be an additional $30/day or so. If you wish to stay at the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, please print out, fill in, and FAX your reservation form to them by August 16, 2004.

Those of you who want a more luxurious, reasonably-priced beachside experience might want to stay at the full-service New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel, which is right next to Kapiolani Park and the Waikiki Aquarium. It's on the quiet end of Waikiki and has its own beachfront area and wonderful restaurants. Special University of Hawaii rates start at
$117/day (standard/non-view room; two twin beds or one queen-size bed). No charge for children 12 years and under when occupying a room with a full-paying adult and utilizing existing bed(s). Click on the hotel link for more information about the New Otani.
