FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Below are answers to the most Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) about the Corpus Linguistics for Korean Language Learning and Teaching Summer Institute. Please contact us at nflrc@hawaii.edu if you have any further questions.
1. How
can I find out more information about the workshop content, activities, and
schedule?
Once we have that full information ready to go, a new section called "Highlights"
containing it will appear on the website. In the meantime, please send any
queries to nflrc@hawaii.edu and
they will be forwarded on to the workshop facilitators.
2. Are
there any planned social events during the workshop?
We are currently planning to have a welcoming reception for participants on
the first day of the workshop (June 30) as well as a closing ceremony on the
final day of the 2-week workshop (July 11). There will also most likely be
an optional social event planned for the weekend in the middle of the Summer
Institute (July 5 or 6).
3. Who
are the sponsors and organizers for the Corpus Linguistics for Korean Language Learning and Teaching workshop?
The National Foreign Language
Resource Center and the Center
for Korean Studies at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa is pleased to
sponsor this event. Organizers for this workshop include the workshop facilitators
and staff at the NFLRC.
4. Who
is eligible to apply to the workshop?
All Korean language educators and researchers are welcome to apply for the
workshop.
5. How
do I apply for the workshop?

starting in early November. The deadline for applications is February 1,
2003 . If you experience difficulty with the online form, please contact us
at nflrc@hawaii.edu
6. How
many applicants will be invited to participate in the workshop?
We will be accepting a total of 15 participants for this workshop.
7. How
much does it cost to attend the workshop? Is there any financial support?
There are no tuition fees to attend the Corpus Linguistics for Korean Language
Learning and Teaching workshop. However, workshop participants are required
to pay a non-refundable $100 registration fee. Please DO NOT SEND PAYMENT
UNTIL NOTIFIED OF ACCEPTANCE. To help defray expenses, partial financial support
(up to $800 for participants from the mainland) will be offered to successful
applicants. Because this partial financial support will likely not cover all
costs involved in attending the workshop, we recommend that participants look
into various forms of financial or travel support from their home institutions
if needed.

will the workshop be held?
The June 30-July 11 workshop will be held in the Moore Hall PC Lab (Room 153A)

drive from the Honolulu International Airport. For directions, please check
out our Directions section
