Mon 9/8 § Prepare for a quiz on Lessons 15 and 16. Listening/speaking: match the patient to the illness by inquiring about symptoms. Reading: cloze test based on lesson texts. Be particularly aware of L15! Writing: an excuse note to your teacher (!) describing symptoms, based on the readings done in class. Situational language use: based heavily on IC W L15 IV Sec One G (pp. 36-38), and IC W L16 IV Sec One H (pp.46-47).
Tues 9/9 § Read IC T Lesson 17 Dialogues I and II (pp. 93, 95). Don't forget you can get a lot of help from a sequence of study:
  • read the English version (105-6) to familiarize yourself with the situation
  • read the Pinyin texts (103-4), circling things you don't know and guessing their meanings
  • get the meanings from the vocabulary in the lesson
  • read the Hanzi versions

§ Prepare for a quiz on the vocabulary of L17.Prompts may be given orally in Chinese or English, or visually.

Wed 9/10 § TO HAND IN: IC T Lesson 17 III (Reading comprehension) Section Two (start p. 50), IV (Writing/Grammar) Section One A, B odd, C, D.
Thurs 9/11 § TO HAND IN: IC T Lesson 16 IV Section One E odd, F, G, H, I even.
Weekend
9/12-14 § Prepare for a quiz on Lessons 17. Listening/speaking: match the person to the date by asking questions. Reading: cloze test based on lesson texts. Writing: a description of The Date From Heaven or The Date From Hell. Situational language use: based heavily on IC W L17 IV Sec One Letter I (the translation questions).
