    Managing Editor for the Language Learning & Technology Journal

    Graduate Assistant, Managing Editor for the on-line journal Language Learning & Technology, (http://nflrc.hawaii.edu/publications/view/OJ01/) published by the National Foreign Language Resource Center, College of Languages, Linguistics, and Literature, UH Manoa,.50 FTE, 11-month appointment to begin August 1, 2015, pending funding availability. Pay: $1,774/month (Step 7).

     

    Duties

    1. To maintain communications with editorial staff, authors, reviewers, board, and sponsors;
    2. To process and send out journal articles for review;
    3. To maintain online and offline databases;
    4. To copy edit articles, reviews, & columns;
    5. To collect statistics and generate reports;
    6. To arrange annual editorial board meetings;
    7. To help with the administration of the journal;
    8. To help with the publication of the journal (e.g., preparing final documents for publication).

     

    Minimum qualifications: Classified graduate status in English, Linguistics, Second Language Studies, or related field; superior English language writing and editing skills; ability to proofread and copy-edit academic articles written in English; excellent communication and organizational skills; familiarity with Macintosh computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.

     

    Desirable qualifications: Familiarity with APA style; desktop publishing experience; previous experience copy editing; interest in and/or knowledge of issues related to language learning and technology.  The ideal applicant is absolutely organized, meticulous, reliable and able to start training in April 2015.
