Project Manager for Online Korean Course Development

    The National Foreign Language Resource Center (NFLRC) at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa and the Center for Urban Language Teaching & Research (CULTR) at Georgia State University are developing a Korean 2 online course in collaboration with the North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS). The NFLRC and CULTR are seeking a Project Manager to work with a team including four Korean content writers and a course reviewer to develop a course in the Canvas LMS. 

    Duties

    1. Participate in required periodic meetings throughout the year as communicated by the sponsoring centers.
    2. Lead course development meetings for the development team (writer, reviewer, instructional designer).
    3. Communicate instructional design policies, procedures, and guidelines to writers and reviewers.
    4. Determine needs/concerns of writers and reviewers; Communicate them to NFLRC and CULTR as needed.
    5. Conduct regular reviews of the course under development. Provide feedback and coaching to writers and reviewers on the development documents based on the course development process and verify that developers address feedback in a timely manner.
    6. Ensure development teams are staying on their proposed timeline and report back to the sponsoring centers.
    7. Respond to writer/reviewer requests for assistance with content, pedagogy, and technology.
    8. Review and examine content for compliance with Federal and State Laws regarding copyright issues, Fair Use guidelines, and accessibility and report any violations to the sponsoring centers.

    Minimum Qualifications

    1. Bachelorʻs degree in foreign language education, applied linguistics, instructional design, project management, or related field
    2. Experience teaching online language courses
    3. Experience supervising and collaborating with work teams
    4. Demonstrated excellent communication and organizational skills

    Desirable Qualifications:

    1. Experience in project management
    2. Experience developing online language courses 
    3. Knowledge of Korean language

    Development Team Deliverables

    The Development Team will deliver 10 lessons for Korean 2, including grammar notes, vocabulary lists, cultural notes, assignments, and assessments for each lesson. The course will be developed to align with the North Carolina World Language Standards since NCVPS will be the first to pilot the Korean 1 and 2 courses. Deliverables are due no later than August 2025.

    Compensation

    Fixed project fee: $7,000 ($3,500 paid by NFLRC and $3,500 paid by CULTR) for project duration to be paid upon completion and submission of deliverables.

    The applicant should own a personal computer, phone/other communication device, and have Internet access. The work will all take place remotely. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. Work visas cannot be provided for this position. Work period will be from November 2024 through August 2025.
