    Steven Thorne

    Steven Thorne is a professor of second language acquisition (SLA) at Portland State University. He has experience as independent LRC evaluator (2010–18). His teaching & research interests include SLA, new media & online gaming environments, and theoretical & empirical investigations of language, interactivity, & development. He is frequently invited to present on topics including Internet communication and information technologies, intercultural communication, cultural-historical activity theory, corpus linguistics, second language development and pedagogy, and ancestral/indigenous language revitalization (specifically the Yup’ik in Alaska). His book length works include a co-edited book, Internet-mediated Intercultural Foreign Language Education, and the co-authored volume Sociocultural Theory and the Genesis of Second Language Development.
