    Chinese Curriculum Project

This continuing research project involves development and refinement of a Mandarin Chinese curriculum for the first through fourth years of college instruction. Specific tasks related to the project are 1) to set goals and objectives, 2) to develop materials in each of the skill areas, 3) to provide training in teaching methodology, and 4) to establish assessment procedures. Due to the interrelated nature of these four areas, organization of the project
entails individual specialization in particular aspects of the overall curriculum, but joint responsibility for the curriculum as a whole, with regular meetings and interactional opportunities to synthesize and refine the curriculum.

To date, materials developed include detailed objective statements for the first four years of Chinese, available as Center Research Note #11, as well as extensive materials for instruction at the first-year level.
