Second Language Research and Practice (SLRP) is a fully refereed, open-access journal that is published annually by the National Foreign Language Resource Center on behalf of the American Association of University Supervisors and Coordinators of Language Programs (AAUSC). Grounded in the discipline of Applied Linguistics, the journal aims to disseminate scholarship on topics relevant to postsecondary language education and language program direction, for example program articulation, curriculum development, teacher professional development, student learning, and assessment.
With the aim of expanding scope and readership, the journal replaces the annual series, Issues in Language Program Direction, established in 1990 under the auspices of the American Association of University Supervisors and Coordinators of Language Programs (AAUSC), to highlight the work of scholars who oversee language programs at U.S. universities. SLRP is designed to be inclusive of diverse professional backgrounds, including tenure- and non-tenure-track faculty and graduate students, to appeal to researchers and practitioners across the educational spectrum, and to represent a wide range of languages.
